This winter transfer market is always a time of feverish rumour and possible major deals. Numerous prominent footballers are being linked with moves out of their current clubs. We examine some of the major figures that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to qualify for the AFCON, which has kept the forward available, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a sizeable release clause active for a two-week window at the start of the month. Latest reports suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his signature. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other options, leaving clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. As his deal due to run out in the summer, this represents the London club's final chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, including City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January departure is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales winger has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Although being the side's top scorer last season, he has begun only a handful of league games. It is understood the London club would be willing to consider a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just 28, while his agreement ending in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça following the coach Hansi Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter departure seems increasingly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven England striker has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could enhance his fading chances of being in the England squad. But, arranging a deal presents major challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge salary render any agreement complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been linked as admirers.

Conor Gallagher

This dynamic English midfielder drew considerable interest in the off-season but remained at Atlético. With limited starting appearances in Spain this term, he may be keen to find more minutes ahead of the World Cup. Manchester United have been heavily linked, and a move back to Selhurst Park, where he excelled on loan, remains a option, although wage demands could prove a stumbling block.

Harvey Elliott

Despite excelling and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, this young player has struggled for game time during his loan spell at Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move won't become permanent. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing multiple teams in a season, a return to Liverpool before next season seems to be the only viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkey forward is in excellent form for Juventus this term. As his current deal running down, many English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but face a race to retain one of the continent's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is widely expected to make a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
