Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital
During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.
Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water supplies, as stated by municipal leaders.
Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.
Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.
"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.
Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen rockets attacked the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.
Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.
Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.
Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were injured.
The assaults succeed periods of air raids in the region, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.
All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.
Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting fuel infrastructure.
