A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
